The Nate Certification Advantage

Spencer Heating and Air Conditioning is proud to send NATE-Certified technicians into customers’ homes across Auburn and West Alabama every day. While this distinction of being Nate-Certified surely sounds reaffirming, what does it actually mean?

North American Technician Excellence

NATE, an abbreviation for North American Technician Excellence, is the nation’s largest non-profit certification organization for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration technicians. NATE is the certification organization that was created by and has been accepted by the entire HVACR industry for close to 20 years.

Not all technicians in the HVAC business have to be NATE-Certified. The certification is discretionary and technicians can service heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration systems without the certification.

Our HVAC Technicians are All NATE Certified

It’s important to Spencer Heating and Air that every member of our team is NATE-Certified. We want to make sure that when you call us, we are placing the most skilled technicians in your homes.

To make sure technicians meet these benchmarks, the NATE-Certification exams verify real-world working knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems for technicians. The assessments are knowledge-based exams that evaluate the technician’s understanding of these rules.

Different NATE Certifications

Spencer Heating and Air Conditioning focus primarily on the HVAC side of NATE-Certification, and our technicians achieve their designations in these areas. However, NATE assessment candidates may earn certification in one or more of these areas:

  • Air Conditioning
  • Air Distribution
  • Gas Heating
  • Oil Heating
  • Heat Pumps
  • Hydronic Gas (service only)
  • Hydronic Oil (service only)
  • Light Commercial Refrigeration (service only)
  • Commercial Refrigeration (service only)
  • Ground Source Heat Pump Loop Installer
  • Senior HVAC Efficiency Analyst
